Seth Godin on why marketing is too important to be left to the marketing department
At last year's conference, Seth gave an inspiring talk on the title of "Why marketing is too important to be left to the marketing department". Make sure you watch it until the end, where he gives a preview of his (then upcoming) Tribes talk.
Here it is:

Just finished watching the video, absolutely cracking with great points made by Seth - just a shame I didn't get to see the talk first hand!

Absolutely priceless.
Thank you for this! This is up there as the #1 presentation speaker-skills-wise and content-wise for the things I am interested in.

Sorry to rain on Mr Grodin's parade but the popup toaster patent (1,394,450 (US) issued October 18, 1921) is held by Charles Strite [ http://www.ideafinder.com/history/inventions/toaster.htm ]

The invention was not the toaster, but sliced bread - or rather an automated bread slicer. Otto Rohwedder did invent that (somewhat surprisingly the toaster was invented 7 years prior to the sliced bread that generally goes in it).
